My name is Curtis Simms and I am the owner of Basic Tax Prep LLC. I graduated from Franklin College in Franklin, Indiana in 2005 with a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting and passed the CPA exam in 2011 (click here to find my active Indiana CPA license). I worked in public accounting for twenty years from June 2005 to September 2025. During that time, I prepared individual and business tax returns with a wide range of sizes and complexities. I am married with two kids, have a corgi named Cooper, and reside in Lebanon, Indiana.
One thing I would like to share about the mission of my firm is that I intend to only work with clients who are committed to reporting their taxes correctly. If your goal in hiring me is to find someone to help you avoid taxes you legitimately owe, I am not the right CPA for you. I want to help you find deductions, expenses, and credits you are legally entitled to but not by lying or putting my CPA license at risk. Don't expect me to include on your return a non-cash charitable donation to Goodwill you say is worth $2,000 when you also tell me you do not have the necessary documentation to support the deduction. Some preparers might include it, but I value my CPA license and will only submit returns I would feel comfortable standing behind in the event of an audit.
My hope is that we can work together to help you file your taxes as quickly and painlessly as possible while minimizing both your tax liability and your tax preparation bill.
Curtis
