Basic Tax Prep LLC was formed to help individuals file their federal and Indiana individual income tax returns using a simple and convenient approach. People who want an alternative to high cost CPA firms, frustrating do-it-yourself tax software, or awkwardly sitting across from someone while having their taxes prepared are invited to try this all-electronic, contactless approach. Use your cell phone, computer, or whatever device you wish to complete all the necessary steps to share your tax information, ask and answer questions, and have your returns prepared by an Indiana licensed CPA with more than twenty years of experience.
A consequence of this all-electronic, contactless approach is that phone calls and in-person meetings are not being accepted. With the focus being on providing affordable tax preparation, phone calls and in-person meetings would raise the cost significantly. Billing will be straightforward and transparent with the goal of having most returns fall in the range of $150 to $300 (see cost and process page for more details). Follow these steps to get started! Please note that a laptop or computer is recommended as it offers the best web page presentation.
- See if you qualify to become a client by clicking DO I QUALIFY TO BE A CLIENT and answering the yes/no questions. If you do qualify, you'll be asked to submit your name, email address, and cell phone number in order to receive an engagement letter. If you do not qualify, please try again next year as your tax situation may change.
- Estimate the cost of your return by clicking FREE ESTIMATE.
- You will receive an e-mail from Basic Tax Prep LLC via DocHub that contains a link to an engagement letter. Make sure you check your spam or junk folder for the e-mail. Complete, sign, and submit it using the encrypted end-to-end process that protects sensitive information found on the engagement letter.
- You will receive an e-mail from no-reply@securefilepro.com requesting you create a login for a secure portal account. Use the Sign In link to create the login.
- Gather all of the tax documents needed to prepare your returns. Please provide a copy of your 2024 federal and Indiana returns along with your 2025 tax documents. Consider completing and providing one or more fillable PDF worksheets found on the worksheets page.
- Upload or send all of the step 5 tax documents and information. See the bottom section of the Cost and Process page for uploading tips. Documents with sensitive information should be uploaded from a secure device and into your secure portal account. Documents without sensitive information could be texted or e-mailed.
